MANITOBA POETRY WORKSHOP
Summer Solstitch with Jennifer + Lourdes Still
I am so excited for another one-of-a-kind workshop at the farm, and this time with someone extra special in my life.
Celebrate the longest day of the year with flowers, threads, and words with me (Lourdes) and my brilliant (and favorite) sister-in-law and poet Jennifer Still. The newly appointed Poet Laureate of Winnipeg (2025-26).
We will guide you through a writing and eco-printing process that preserves personal experiences and plants on an original, fabric page.
Poetry and floral dyeing are processes that connect us to memories and landscape and distil our subjects into vibrant meaning. And during our time together, you’ll learn to write a poem, eco-print flowers on textile, and stitch words. It’s a way of marking time and connecting with the light. Create a tangible memory in community, outdoors under the solstice skies. Join us! Celebrate the solstice with us!
Workshop highlights:
Poetry-writing exercise
Eco-printing techniques like steaming and hammering using dried and fresh dye flowers
Basic embroidery backstitch
Fee includes:
Organic cotton bandana + sample fabrics
Botanical dyed embroidery thread from Forage
Embroidery hoop and needles
Snacks and refreshments
This workshop is at cost. And if you are able, we suggest paying it forward by making a donation to a cause that is dear to you. Organizations to consider:
Living Prairie Museum through Friends of the Living Prairie Museum
In case of inclement weather, the workshop will be held on Sunday, June 22nd.
